Fuel tank maintenance is an important but often over looked part of preventive maintenance procedures for diesel engines and plant. Stored diesel degrades with time, pressure, temperature and microbial attack. The net result is an accumulation of sludge, water and microbes at the bottom and on the walls of your tank, these unwanted contaminants in your fuel tank can lead to premature engine failure or at the very least unexpected engine stoppages due to fuel starvation caused by plugged (blocked) fuel filters. Conventional fuel storage cleaning systems require the stored contaminated diesel to be removed from the tank and disposed of. This however does not address the problem af the remaining contamination stuck to the wall and bottom of your fuel tank, new fuel filled into the tank therefore degrades much faster than would normaly be expected.
